July 27, 2010 – Bronx, NY : A man walks home from work down Palisade avenue (far right) where a tornado touched down on July 25. To the left, people cruise by in their vehicles for a closer look.
I went back down to Palisade Avenue on Tuesday evening to further document the twister damage. I found the street, which only the day before had been completely impassable, mostly cleared. Not only were the bucket trucks and tree limbs gone, there were already a number of people cruising by for an in-person look-see.
To put what you’re seeing above in perspective, take a look at the cached google streetview image HERE. As you can see, what had only recently been a forest of trees poking over a wall is now blue sky and mangled tree tops.
